Honour Godfrey Harris’s legacy — help build the Harris Africa Institute for Environmental Communication

.        Godfrey Harris – A life of purpose for a brighter tomorrow

Godfrey Harris, former Managing Director of the Ivory Education Institute, passed away on 6 January 2026. He believed wildlife conservation must recognise the needs and livelihoods of the rural communities who share their land with wildlife.

I worked closely with Godfrey for several years. Before his death, he asked me to continue the Institute’s work, with the support of his family. He wanted these words on his tombstone: “At least I tried.” We can honour him by continuing to try.

I invite you to help establish the Harris Africa Institute for Environmental Communication. Its purpose is to empower Africans and others to communicate environmental issues freely, confidently and effectively. I have identified a plot for the institute, and our fundraising target is US$150,000. Contributions of any size are welcome.
